Best remembered as a breeding and training ground for champion thoroughbred racehorses, Belle Meade Plantation is a spectacular 30-acre historic farm and residence. The home itself was built in 1853 in the Greek Revival style, and today it showcases many of its former owners' possessions, as well as bearing the scars of bullet holes from the Civil War's Battle of Nashville. The home, along with its outbuildings, are open for tours run by guides in period dress, offering visitors a look into life on the property in the 1800s. It sits within the Belle Meade area of southwest Nashville, just north of the Belle Meade Country Club.
